AS I SAW IT
Monday, 12 February 2007

Last week we had our first town hall meeting...this is how I saw it.

Image Since this last week has been a week from hell for me,

I will have to go on sheer memory of the goings on of the town hall meeting.

The thing that stands out the most in my mind, was the subject of the feral cat problem.

Who would have thought that this would have been the hottest part of the meeting?

(Some) Answers to Questions for the Town Hall Meeting
Wednesday, 07 February 2007

Image All questions were answered to the satisfaction of the City Council and Management.  These questions were submitted in advance (morning of the meeting) because they were not intended as "gotcha" questions.  We thank Brian McDougal, our city manager, for his extra work in preparing for the meeting.

(The blanks will be filled as time permits. Please provide your input. Ed.)

1.  What are the 5 council committees their scope and their membership?  When and where do they meet?  Are they public meetings?  Are minutes kept and are they public record/published?

Each of the 5 committees has at least 2 tasks, but the the speed at which they were described exceeded the Editors note taking ability.  We'll try to get something published.

The meetings are open and the schedules are available from the city office.  I presume that these sort of things will (descriptions and shedules) will be easier to publish when the city website becomes active.

Startling Developments at Town Hall Meeting!
Monday, 05 February 2007

In a shocking development the entire Remerton City Council was forced to resign after the city manager revealed (aided by a council member's girlfriend, a veterinarian and PETA charter member), that the feral cat project was a front for a cat skin coat and sweater factory long established in the old Remerton Mill basement by a previous administration.

The RPD  raided the factory upon this revelation, releasing several dozen college students who had be there since the late 90's fuflillling their community service obligation.

To complete the coup, the Mayor (innocent of any misdeeds) married her long time fiance, a Valdosta city official, on the spot and signed the documents necessary to complete the annexation of Remerton by Valdosta.

Just kidding.Wink

More to come on the actual (rather successful) meeting later...

If you were there, please submit your thoughts, essays, comments etc.  A lot was discussed.
