CITY OF REMERTON - REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, APRIL 12, 2010 at 5:30 P.M.
Welcome Guests. Pledge and Prayer. Establish Quorum of Council-Present were Council persons Sherry Wood, Ryan Gordon and Bill Wetherington. Reggie Stacks was absent and there is a vacant seat. City Administrator Jack Byrd and City Attorney Brad Folsom were present.
Approval of minutes from Regular meeting March 8, 2010. Approval of minutes from Special Called meeting March 22, 2010. Approval of minutes from Special Called meeting March 31, 2010. - These three sets of minutes were unanimously approved approved without modification in a single motion.
Citizens to be Heard-None (during this section)
New Business: 1. Financial Report-Lisa Mashburn, City Clerk- 2. Consideration regarding CD renewal at First State Bank in the amount of $21,139.76-Unanimously approved.
Old Business: 1. Consideration regarding amendment to Alcohol Ordinance section 6-1-Unanimously approved without comment. A motion was made and seconded to go into Executive Session, but the vote not yet occurred when City Attorney Brad Folsom noted that City Administrator Jack Byrd had suggested that Mr. Tillman make his presentation on behalf of Remerton Mills, LLC in open, rather than executive session.
So, at minute 8:30 there was another presentation by Mr. Tillman on behalf of the old Strickland Cotton Mill owners, Remerton Mills, LLC. The big news was that the property purchased about four and a half years ago for $1.5 million and on the current tax rolls with a value of just under $1.6 million has just recently been appraised at $4.4 million, according to Mr. Tillman. One would think that some farsighted deep pocket investors would be ready to jump on this opportunity... some investor other than the City of Remerton.
This was the topic of discussion for the executive session that followed.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: Property - There was no discussion or comment when Council went back into public session, just a motion to adjourn. ADJOURN
